When moving into a new home that has a camera doorbell attached resetting it should be one of the first things you do!  Here are directions to reset some of the most popular brands on the market.

For resetting a Vivint doorbell for a new homeowner, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure that the doorbell is properly connected to a power source.
  2. Press and hold the reset button on the doorbell for 10-15 seconds or until the light ring turns red.
  3. If the previous steps don't work, perform a factory reset by holding the button on the doorbell for 15 seconds until the light turns red.
  4. If none of the above steps resolve the issue, contact the Vivint support team for further assistance.

To reset a Ring doorbell for a new homeowner, here are the instructions:

  1. Remove the front panel of the doorbell.
  2. Locate the small circular reset button (indicated by a sticker) and press it for 15 seconds.
  3. The notification light around the Ring's external button will flash rapidly and then turn off.
  4. The reset is complete when the light turns off.
  5. If you're moving into a new home and discover that the Ring devices are registered to the previous homeowner, contact Customer Support for guidance on transferring the device to your Ring account.
  6. Performing a hard reset on the Ring doorbell will completely erase the Wi-Fi settings from the unit.
  7. Press and hold the orange Reset button on the back of the Ring Doorbell for at least 15 seconds.
  8. To disconnect your account, open the Ring app on your smartphone, go to Settings, select Remove Device, and then choose Delete.

To reset a Nest doorbell for a new homeowner, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the doorbell, situated below the USB port.
  2. Use a reset pin or a paper clip to access the button inside the pinhole.
  3. Press and hold the reset button for approximately five seconds until a white status light appears.
  4. Release the button when the light turns off.
  5. Remove the doorbell from your list of devices on your Nest account.
  6. Use a paper clip to press the reset button located at the bottom of the device.
  7. Simultaneously, press and hold the doorbell button until a spinning blue light appears.
  8. Release the buttons when the light turns off.
  9. Confirm the email you receive from Google/Nest and add the device again once it has been factory reset. Note that the camera must be connected to Wi-Fi for removal from the app and factory reset. If you plan to continue using your camera or doorbell with the same account, canceling the subscription before the factory reset is unnecessary.

To reset an Arlo video doorbell, follow these steps:

  1. Press and hold the reset button on the back of the device for 10 to 15 seconds until the LED ring on the front flashes white.
  2. If the doorbell is unresponsive, try power cycling it by pressing and holding the "Power" button for three seconds.
  3. If the issue persists, reset the device by simultaneously pressing and holding both buttons for ten seconds.
  4. Make sure to keep the Arlo app up to date and use the latest firmware version for your doorbell.
  5. To reset the Arlo wireless doorbell, delete the device from the Arlo app.
